It is the prolapse of the bladder towards the vagina due to the weakening of the muscles and fascia (membranes) that form the bottom of the pelvis (structures forming the lower abdominal wall). It is most frequently observed in women having many and difficult deliveries. Furthermore, reduction in the hormonal support received by these structures after menopause is another factor.
It might have such findings as urinating frequently, urgent need for urinating, stress incontinence, difficulty in urinating and masses in the vagina. Diagnosis is made upon examination. It is not dangerous if they do not cause clogging or infection in the urinary canals. Treatment is suggested according to the degree of the disease. Its treatment is surgery. Mid-urethral loose sling operation (TVT or TOT) is suggested in the same session as urinary incontinence might begin/continue after cystocele is corrected in these patients.
